Developing the practice of producing live performance
The Producer LAB is a series of events, workshops and public conversations dedicated to building the core knowledge, skills, networks and practical tools that producers need to thrive. It also supports emerging producers through hands-on opportunities including internships and industry sessions.
Crafted by Red Chair and delivered in collaboration with local councils, Traditional Owners, and local, state and national producers, the Producer LAB brings together the people shaping how live performance is made, supported and presented.
Each LAB event opens up the work behind the work, from how ideas are developed and funded, to how shows are built, presented and toured. The program is delivered in person and online. It is designed to build a genuine knowledge base and skilled producing workforce in regional Queensland.
The Producer LAB is for anyone involved in making live performance happen, whether producing independent work, working within a company or venue, or stepping into producing for the first time. It is a space for curiosity, shared practice and connection.
We work with presenters, organisations and councils to deliver tailored editions of the Producer LAB, shaped in response to local needs, contexts and creative ecosystems. If you are interested in hosting a version in your community, we would love to start a conversation.
