Storyplace

Stories shared by elders, historians, scientists, poets, musicians and more

Storyplace is a site-responsive audio project that brings the stories of place to life through sound.

Storyplace has been realised in four locations: Mudjimba Island, Mooloolaba, Noosa and Point Arkwright, each shaped by the people and histories connected to those places. The work captures a rich cross-section of perspectives, from cultural knowledge and deep time histories to lived experience and local lore.

Each project is anchored to a specific landmark, drawing together voices from elders, Traditional Custodians, historians, artists and local knowledge holders. Stories are recorded on location and shaped into an audio experience that audiences can encounter in situ, revealing the layered histories, memories and meanings held within a place.

Storyplace is designed to be adapted to different locations and contexts. We work with presenters to shape each project in response to site, community and audience, creating an accessible and meaningful way for people to connect more deeply with where they are.
