One of Australia’s most cherished duos makes a long-awaited return to the stage
After a decade away from the spotlight, stringmansassy are back, ready to reconnect with audiences and share the music that made them one of Australia’s most cherished duos. Guitarist Aaron Hopper and vocalist Kacey Patrick are known for their inventive musicianship, dynamic interplay and heartfelt performances.
Forming their partnership in 1996, they quickly became known as stringmansassy, touring extensively across Australia and internationally from 2000 to 2014. Their unmistakable chemistry, inventive approach and deep musical intuition captivated audiences wherever they performed. Now, after a ten-year hiatus, the duo return to the stage for a much-anticipated tour, welcomed by fans eager to experience their artistry once again.
Renowned for their sophisticated musicianship, Aaron and Kacey transcend the traditions of jazz and folk, crafting music often described as spellbinding, enthralling and deeply expressive. As critic Andrew MacLean noted, “Even the laws of physics are subject to subtle manipulation in stringmansassy’s world.”
Their four independent releases: Persuasion (2000), Beautiful Day (2003), Dragonfly (2004) and The Live Experience 2000–2008 (2008), earned national acclaim, with Dragonfly reaching No. 1 on the AIR Jazz Charts and Beautiful Day receiving widespread ABC airplay.
About the Artists
stringmansassy are refined and sophisticated performers and unique arrangers of every musical genre. They transcend their roots in jazz and folk to create music described as spellbinding, enthralling and passionate. Across 12 years as a performance duo, stringmansassy expanded the expected realm for guitar and voice, proving it is possible to create an astonishing musical atmosphere with a small ensemble.
Since their early beginnings as ‘cafe background music’ in 1996, stringmansassy became one of the most highly regarded performance duos in Australia. They toured extensively both internationally and throughout Australia, performing at some of the country’s most prestigious venues and festivals. Among many highlights in their 12-year career, they were invited to participate in the cultural delegation for the Australian Pavilion at three World EXPOs (Hanover 2000, Aichi 2005 and Shanghai 2010).

Is the venue accessible?
Most venues we work with offer basic accessibility features such as step-free entry, wheelchair access and accessible toilets, but facilities vary from place to place. Because Red Chair events tour to a wide range of regional halls, theatres and community spaces, not all venues have the same accessibility features, particularly smaller or heritage-listed buildings.
Before booking, we recommend checking the venue’s accessibility information on the ticketing website via the venue Book Now link to confirm what is available (for example wheelchair spaces, companion seating or ramps). This will help ensure the most comfortable experience for you and your guests.
If you have specific access needs and would like assistance planning your visit, please get in touch and we’ll be happy to help.
