Karin Schaupp
Karin Schaupp is one of the world’s leading classical guitarists, acclaimed for her expressive musicianship, commanding stage presence and passionate playing. She performs internationally as a recitalist, concerto soloist and festival guest, with appearances across Australia, Europe, Asia, North America and beyond. Her artistry has inspired numerous composers to write works especially for her.

Karin began playing guitar at the age of five and performed publicly a year later. As a teenager she won prizes at major international competitions in Italy and Spain, including a special award for Best Interpretation of Spanish Music. She studied at The University of Queensland, completing First Class Honours and a Masters degree, and was awarded a University Gold Medal. Her achievements have been recognised with the Music Council of Australia Freedman Fellowship and an Australia Council Music Fellowship.

Her extensive discography includes recordings for Warner Music International and ABC Classics, with several ARIA nominations and awards. She has collaborated widely in chamber and orchestral settings, recording major Australian works and world premieres with leading ensembles and orchestras.

Karin has appeared on television and radio worldwide and has also forged a successful theatrical career, starring in the play Lotte’s Gift, written especially for her by David Williamson. She is currently Head of Classical Guitar at the Queensland Conservatorium, Griffith University.

Andrew Veivers
Over the past twenty-five years Andrew Veivers has established himself as a director, producer, concert artist and composer of the highest calibre. With a CV that enjoys highlights as varied as orchestral direction, theatrical composition and arrangement, producing and directing roles for festival based ceremonies and events. Andrew has had concert appearances as a soloist and with various ensembles on tours, recordings, radio, television and film. Andrew has maintained a commitment to combining an underlying ethos of community and cultural connection and development with the highest levels of germane and harmonious stage presentation, technical transparency and sensitive thoughtful application of artistic aesthetics.

Of Kamilaroi, Dutch and Scottish heritage, Andrew was born in Australia in 1969 and has been based in Coolum Beach on Gubbi Gubbi/Kabi Kabi land for the past eighteen years. After graduating with a Bachelor of Music in 1993 from the University of Queensland (St. Lucia), where he majored in classical guitar,  Andrew concentrated on developing a career as a concert artist and spent several years studying, teaching and performing in London, Madrid and Amsterdam. At venues ranging from Blenheim Palace (UK) to The Dillington Classical Guitar Festival (UK) to chamber music series’ in The Netherlands, concerts in Japan, the South Pacific as well as at many venues and festivals throughout Australia, Andrew has appeared as a soloist, with his groups Flamenco Fire and The Saruzu Quartet as well as guest director/ composer/ arranger/ performer and producer for great Australian artistic institutions such as The Sydney Theatre Company, Opera Queensland and the Woodford Folk Festival to great critical acclaim.
