Born in Dublin Alan Kelly has a vast, and real experience in the folk realm. He is the front man and singer guitarist for the Barleyshakes. He recently co-ordinated the first ever Woodford Folk Music Camp, where he also gave daily workshops to over 20 guitar enthusiasts of all levels. Woodford folk festival are delighted to make this a yearly event.

Alan’s online classes will be 30 minutes in length and held weekly at a time convenient to the pupil. Lesson are $30 each or $250 for 10 lessons.

GUITAR: Alan has taught standard tuning, drop D and DADGAD, strumming techniques, and finger picking.
SINGING: As a singer Alan studied the Bel Canto (beautiful singing) tradition and has enjoyed passing this craft on to many singers over the years.
SONG WRITING: Alan has also won many awards for his song writing, including the Queensland Music Award for World music composition for his song “Between the Green and the Blue”
BODHRAN: Alan’s experience with the Irish drum dates to 1996 when he fell in love with this versatile percussion instrument. Alan recorded as a soloist for the Lord of the Rings soundtrack on Bodhran and has been teaching this instrument for over 10 years now.
